It's really the Pythagorean Theorem with more symbols. Memorize it now rather than later.

Last Two Properties
You need to memorize all the properties and know how to apply them.
For those of you who left early today, the activity on pp. 483-484 needs to be well understood. You need to think about how the volume changed (more than doubled) even though the same size paper was used for the sides of the boxes. You also need to understand the formula for volume. If you need help with this, laurie, jdubb 32, lovebug9, and "the goose" can help you.
Homework:
Lesson 8-5, Covering the Ideas and Review, pp. 485-487.

More Properties
You've got two more properties to go and that will be a wrap on exponents. Then we'll look at square roots which are sometimes irrational numbers , sometimes rational, and sometimes imaginary.
Mandie may have set the quiz date. I'll have Lesson Masters for you tomorrow.
If you need a review of negative exponents, try this. If you want to review all the properties (they may vary slightly from your list), try this.

Exponents
So far, you should understand three properties of exponents. The LAX girls missed the third property but it is easy to understand if you got the first property.
Mandie, Miss Tan, and Goldielocks: Look at this website. It will help you understand more complicated factoring.
Homework: Finish up 8.2 and try out the Covering the Ideas in 8-3. I am impressed with how quickly you are moving.

Acronyms
AFAIK there are many acronyms that have more than one meaning. What do you think the most common meaning for CPA is? The first person who comments gets one point. The person who finds a less common meaning gets two points tomorrow.
FYA look up an acronym (any length, letters only) that has a meaning that you think most of your classmates do not know. Write this acronym in a comment. You will get two extra points on tomorrow's quiz for finding an acronym to share. In case of duplicate acronyms, whoever comments first gets the points.
BTW, L8R is not a TLA.

Sorry I Missed You
I had an emergency so really am sorry about missing class. I'm sure Mrs. P did a great job.
You should look at the links in the previous post. They are easy and fun to read and will extend your understanding of function. A function can be non numerical but needs to be very carefully defined.
Think about when you want a quiz on Lessons 7-1 through 7-3. Tuesday or Wednesday works for me.

Functions
I thought you all did a very nice job in class today. You really seem to get function notation and can tell domain and range for each function.
If you would like to review some functions that are not arithmetic, look here. If you would like to check how to use function notation, try this website. This website will give you another way to test a graph to see if it is a function. Have fun!
I would like you to comment on the websites
Homework:
Lesson 7-5 - finish all the questions.
