Here Are Some Things to Think About.

Here's a good question:

The equation h = -16 t^2 +56t + 32 describes the height h, in feet, of a ball t seconds after it is thrown from the balcony of a building. Sketch the graph of the equation. Then use the equation and the graph to tell all you can about the situation. You can write a paragraph but you may also use math notation.

Make sure you know the compound interest formula.

Looking for a Hint?

Try these out.

  1. Where does the graph of -7y + 21x + 14 = 0 cross the y-axis?
  2. A company makes cement using a water to cement ratio of 11 to 20. How many parts of water should be added to 300 parts of cement?

Good luck!

Is it Over Yet?

You have done a fine job this year, i.e. those who have worked hard on their homework and participated in class. I have enjoyed reading all your blog comments but it is soon coming to an end. Did I hear a sigh of relief?

I have posted the Ch 9 Cumulative on the 7-8 Math Page. The answers are also posted. Although we only touched on discriminant, I feel confidant that many of you can answer question 1.

The exam will be cumulative. There will be between 40 and 50 questions. Stay tuned for hints.

Graphs of Quadratic Functions

Today in class, we corrected Lesson 9-2, Covering the Ideas and completed Applying. We went on to Lesson 9-3. If you work through the two activities and pay very close attention to SVU and the x- and y- intercepts, you will be prepared for class on Wednesday.

Homework:
In addition to what is described above, complete Covering in Lesson 9-3.
